Emmaline Sparks describes herself as a story hunter. She has made a name for herself as a novelist by hunting for and finding the stories of the powerless, that the powerful don't want told.

Abby Woods wants to become a story hunter, too, like her grandma.

Abby thinks her grandma and her dog, a black German Shepherd, are really something more. Maybe even a witch and a wolf. She can start by making those changes at camp.

But a returned deposit from the camp means a change of plans, and not just for Abby.

Abby doesn't mind. She's going to be a story hunter. And she knows just whose story she will be hunting.
