The Seed Keeper brings the story from the perspective of the people from The Movement, who reside within walled communities within the six territories of mainland Australia. But in this book we focus more on the territory of Eden - formerly New South Wales. Beyond these communities, seemingly living in the wild, are the people of the clans, whom The Movement regard as the Ferals. Both cultures owe their existence to one of the 105 Insemination Plants throughout the six territories.
We view the majority of this story through the eyes of Catherine and Maxwell Dane, who are recruited in 2273 by the South Eastern Stat Group, leaving the walled community of Parramatta, and venturing to the Principle Community of the Territory of Eden, known as Parkes. Maitland being the South Eastern's first stop out of Parramatta. Destiny awaits Maxwell and Catherine at Parkes.
