"A dynamic series opener featuring innovative technology and dystopian thriller elements"--Kirkus Reviews

"A twisting, near-future novel, The Pystead Group is both a chilling and thought-provoking dystopian read, with plenty of future tech for traditional sci-fi fans to enjoy. Ultimately, the author is casting a line of prophecy three decades into the future, and presents a fascinating hypothesis of humanity's direction. The novel is clever, creative, and timely, with enough sociological undertones to keep readers thinking long after they close the book." --Self-Publishing ReviewBy 2052 citizens of the U.S.A. live under an oppressive government and in fear of extremists. Seeking escape, Philip Russell, a young cognitive scientist, takes a job with The Pystead Group, a transnational company located in the West Indies. He becomes part of its illegal, brain-scanning security program. On the streets of Charleston on Nevis Island, Philip survives encounters with his company's enemies through resourceful use of Pystead's high-tech drones. On Pystead's campus Philip pursues romantic relations with two women; unknown to him, one is the daughter of the group's founding principal. When Pystead reveals a Plan B with risks and unknowns, Philip must dare to become a real-world person rather than a sheltered scientist if he is to join his new friends in escaping the world's dystopian era.
