Author Biography

Herbert Crooker, the author of the Hollywood Murder Mystery, also wrote The Crime in Washington Mews (1931) featuring the same detective, Clay Brooke. Other mysteries by him include The Sweet Cheat (1931) and Man About Broadway (1946). During his early career, he wrote stories for magazines such as New Yorker as well as the newspaper serialization The Timber Queen which was adapted from a movie serial. He is also credited as the writer and producer of the 1939 short film "I'll Tell the World."
