Author Biography

Janice Monk Glass was born to write when she came into this world to deeply rooted East Texas families of farmers, educators and authors. Her first works were published in The Country Gentleman Magazine when she was nine-years-old. Education included English, Elementary Education, and Library Science at East Texas State University; Psychology at Vanderbilt University, and Belmont School of Music. She holds certificates in paralegal law, accounting, and abstracting. Also a songwriter, Ms. Glass is a member of the Country Music Association, Nashville Songwriters Association, Inc. and Broadcast Music, Inc. Over the years her stories, poems and essays have appeared in local and national publications. A book of humor, Shaking the Apple Trees, The Stories of Henry Jesse Hatton was written when the characters began intruding into a serious novel she was writing. They were hardworking, fun loving, and endearing characters who deserved a book of their own. Her latest books, Crazy Ol' Friends: True Stories of Faith, Family and Friends, and The Family Tree and Other Stories, were released in 2008. This latest book, The Departing Spirits, is a fifteen story collection of romance, humor, mass murder, deceit and downright fun. In the story, The Stalker, country singer Sonny Sinclair and his band feel threatened by the mysterious, unknown red haired woman who follows their shows from town to town. Caleb's Journey tells of little Caleb who escapes from his abductor and sets out across the farm fields and small towns of Alabama and Georgia to find his home and family in Florida. The Landing is a story of two teenage cousins who take Jared's dad's small plane for a joy ride and learn the folly of such an act. Sacred Turkeys is a humorous story about an unemployed Arkansas bootlegger who tries to become honest by raising turkeys for the troops during World War I. Until Proven Guilty is a nail biter. Rusty Carver is arrested for mass murder when twenty-four bodies are found buried on his farm. Ms. Glass hopes you'll enjoy these stories and ten others in her latest book, The Departing Spirits.
