In Louise Fyfe's attic lay a box marked DRACULA. And after reading how Bram Stoker started writing the book in Cruden Bay, Scotland, she opened it...

What a surprise lay inside - a long-forgotten collection of short stories written by Louise's great-grandfather Adam Drummond, church minister in Cruden Bay when Bram Stoker was there.

Superbly crafted, Adam Drummond's stories give an intimate account of the fisher folk living in an Aberdeenshire village in the 1890s. These men and women speak about their lives, the great dangers they face at sea, and how everyone looks out for each other with an incredible human closeness. Emerging from these tales is the picture of a place, a time, and a community: the Cruden Bay Bram Stoker knew.

Introduction by Louise Fyfe.
