San Francisco, 1908: As the city rises from the ashes of the Great Earthquake and Fire, a brutally ravaged body is discovered at the bottom of Pool 6 in the Sutro Baths. Suspects point to the reclusive Phantom of the Baths or a rejected lover, but the case is never solved. Half a century later, radioactive fragments from a WW II aircraft carrier mysteriously appear at the bottom of the same pool. When a second body is discovered in 1966 in the burned out remains of the Baths, PI Ernie Washington and SFPD Detective Patrick Manion follow a bloody trail that leads from Lands End to the atomic bomb tests in the Marshall Islands and radioactive experiments at Hunters Point Shipyard to track down a killer who has been hiding in plain sight. The Body in the Sutro Baths is the second book of the Great Highway mysteries.
