Orion's life has been intertwined with spirits at the L'Enfant Haven plantation in Louisiana since he was three. When his drug-addicted mother could not provide the nurturing her son needed, the ghosts helped to care for and raise him to be the man he is today - Orion Aniston Labauve, Finder of Things and People - at least that's what his business card says.

Orion's life drastically changed after his twenty-fifth birthday in 1982, when he became aware of the true extent of his extraordinary talents enhanced by a Voodoo Spirit God, who has his own mysterious agenda for providing these endowments. Orion uncovers a shocking truth about the grandmother he never knew, a Voodoo Imperatice with immense magical influences. For decades, she has been manipulating the Labauve family, all in the pursuit of producing an heir with the unique capacity she needs to wield the power of the Labauve Signet over spirits. In her relentless quest for control, she is willing to subject both the living and the dead to unimaginable torment.
