Early on in Sean Neumann's military investigative career, Major Flynn Taggart was convicted for the murder of another officer's wife. Twenty years later, Taggart shows up in Bekbourg County, Ohio, where Sean is sheriff, asking for help to clear his name. Is it purely coincidental that the officer (now a retired Brigadier General) whose wife was killed lives in Bekbourg? In a baffling twist, the Brigadier's current wife suddenly turns up dead. In the meantime, Sean's fiancé, Cheryl Seton, owner of the local newspaper, is drawn into a forty-year-old mystery involving the deaths of teenage lovers. As she delves deeper into the lives of the young couple, Cheryl learns things were not what they seemed. What really happened that fateful night all those years ago?
