It is 1972 and James and Ktrina Martin take a well earned month of vacation from Zambia, returning to a new job opportunity for James. He is given the chance to run a start up surface copper mine in Zambia. The job is complicated by border closures and by encounters with Zimbabwe freedom fighters.
Hugh Chare first went to Zambia in 1969 as a student returning to work full time in 1970. he left Zambia in 1974 after working for two different companies. He then had a varied career in the United States ranging from mining equipment sales to gearbox manufacturing, solid rockets, aerospace composites and specialty chemicals. He now makes his home in Hawaii with his wife and two dogs. He still consults in the aerospace industry and is working on further novels.
