During the War Between the States, a young Southern girl becomes romantically entangled with a notorious outlaw hiding out in the Sulphur River Country of East Texas.
In 2001, the script version of I Rode with Cullen Baker won the Split-Screenplay $1000 competition. Since then, the novel has gained a number of online reviews. In 2010 I became a member of the Western Writers of America, and shortly thereafter, I Rode with Cullen Baker received a positive (unbiased and unpaid) review in their print magazine, RoundUp. This second edition contains the recipe for Aunt Annie's East Texas Cornbread, which Jess remembered from Mrs. Loring's nightly ramblings, and Aunt Sis made for her in chapter 15.
