At age 19, John Colucci was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity and committed to a mental institution. Eight years later, he's released to begin a new life. Author Biography

E. W. Abernathy has worked in the legal profession for over twenty-five years. Her favorite pastimes are writing, reading, cooking, and listening to heavy metal music. She was the recipient of The Tarheel Writers' Roundtable First Place for Best Short Story in 1978 at the age of 17 and has been writing fiction since the third grade. She is currently working on the sequel to Cold Comfort. Her other works in progress are a historical novel set in the antebellum South, and a dystopian/futuristic novel dealing with the subject of genetic engineering in humans.
