by Ian Chapman (Author)
It is 2050, twenty years after The Collapse, and cross-border courier Trent is returning to his hometown for the first time in decades. He wants to wrap up a few details before he makes a big deal and finds somewhere safe to retire, somewhere away from the neo-reivers and bandits that infest the roads of Northumbria. But this short visit becomes a fight for survival as he dredges up relationships from the past and is drawn into a desperate battle with the corrupt powers that run the town.
Ian Chapman was born and raised in Northumberland, only leaving when he was lured south to study Economics at the University of Wolverhampton. He was so impressed with the place he went on to gain a PGCE and MA in International Studies, staying in the Midlands to lecture at a number of colleges and universities. When not teaching he wrote stories or rode one of his three motorbikes, with the odd Glastonbury Festival thrown in. Moving north to Lancaster he took an MA in Creative Writing at St Martin's College before completing a PhD at Lancaster University. This was when the Northumbrian Westerns were dreamt up. Around this time he had a play performed, won a (small) poetry competition and had a short story published. He now lives on the edge of the Lake District, still teaching and writing but the motorbikes have been replaced by three children.
