by Lakis Polycarpou (Author)
Varosha, Famagusta: The City of the Vanished.
Lakis Polycarpou Lakis has been thinking about the island of Cyprus for most of his life and writing about it for almost as long. Born in the capital, Nicosia, he grew up in Colorado, but returned often over the years. He dreams often of its sandy beaches, mountain orchards and ancient churches--and most of all of the good company of his aunts, uncles and cousins who live there. Lakis' other passions include reading and writing about creative human-scaled responses to ecological crisis and resource challenges. Lakis lives in the great literary village of Tarrytown, New York (home of the father of American Letters, Washington Irving) with his beautiful wife and his three amazing children.
