Dr. Ellie Lennox is settling into her new life in the remote silver mining town of Sage Canyon, Colorado, but her first winter in the harsh Rocky Mountains is proving dangerous.

After two murders shock the town, speculation grows that the old Hodge gang is reforming. The band of outlaws killed ex-sheriff Jack Granger's wife two years ago, and to Ellie's dismay, Jack's renewed interest in capturing their leader outshines any interest he's shown Ellie lately. Still mourning, Jack's hesitation to move on with a new romance has driven Ellie to doubt her own heart.

Outlaw violence and Jack's indecision aren't Ellie's only impending calamities, though. When a child showing all the signs of scarlet fever turns up in her infirmary, Ellie relies on the stubborn and surly pharmacist Doctor Henry Goodwin for a much-needed medicine-and finds an unexpected rival for her affections, too.

When Ellie is targeted by the Hodge gang and her life hangs in the balance, she'll need her devotion to medicine, her determination in the face of adversity, and her new friends in Sage Canyon, to see her through.

Inspired by the true story of frontier physician Doctor Susan Anderson, A Cure in the Wild is a heartwarming historical novel set in the harsh wilderness of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Perfect for fans of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and When Calls the Heart.
