180 Creative Ideas for Getting Students Involved, Engaged, and Excited will gather the best of the Curriculum Connections sections from the five editions of our Teacher's Calendar. Curriculum Connections take events listed in the main calendar and expand upon them, offering ways to work history or biography or holidays into the classroom lesson plans. For 180 Creative Ideas, we will take 180 of these lesson plan supplements - one for each day of the school year--reshape and update them if necessary, and present them in a standardized format. All will highlight classroom-appropriate themes and topics for discussion and interaction. These activities will be aimed at teachers of children in grades K-8 (the same audience we have for the Teacher's Calendar). Each of the 180 entries will be 5 to 8 paragraphs in length, and will include the following elements: The date of the event (only non-shifting holidays and events will be included); The event or topic name; An explanation of the topic and its relevance to today's students; Suggested classroom activities for a range of abilities/ages (including materials lists as appropriate); Further resources (Web sites, books, recordings, etc.
