by Anthony Uyl (Author)

This book presents two new renditions of the Iliad and the Odyssey in a novelistic retelling. This complete novel presents the gods as darker and more sinister in the plots against Troy, the Greeks and against Odysseus as he struggles to find his way home. The struggles with the gods come to a climax for Achilles as he seeks to defeat Hector in front of the city of Troy and for Odysseus as he finds justice for his home against the suitors that attempted to charm his wife away from him while he was gone for twenty years.

While the original Iliad did not include the story of the fall of Troy and the Trojan Horse, this novel includes that part of the story that comes from the lost epic the Iliou Persis. Many movies and other tellings of the Iliad include this story as part of the Iliad even though Homer never told this part of the fall of Troy in the original epic poem.

Also included are the authors vision of what started the war with the taking of Helen from Sparta, and Achilles reuniting with both Hector and his friend Patroclus in the afterlife.
