Author Biography

Tiina Porthan, Master of Arts, is a Finnish author who writes about mythology with the focus on the creepy, magical side of folk poems and tales. She collaborates with artist Tero Porthan to make this tradition known worldwide. Her books include The Finnish Book of Spells: The Finnish Spell System from Curses to Exorcisms (2024), Women of Might and Magic: Witch Queens, Deities of Death and Nature Goddesses in Finnish Mythology (2023), The Finnish Book of the Dead: Gods, Spirits and Creatures of the Underworld in Finnish Mythology and Folklore (2022).
